EVISU Spring Summer 2013 -Merging brand tradition with 50’s culture

11 March, 2013

This season EVISU gets inspired with a fresh, relevant rework of the 50s golden age sub-cultures of Hot-Rod and Rockabilly. The emphasis is on mixing and matching core items with seasonal styles across the ranges. Denim and non-denim sit together with a variety of lengths and fits on offer. The tops line expands its offer from denim jackets, right through to shirts and tees, with fabrics and graphics working together to fuse the 50s inspired theme with EVISU trademark style.

To showcase this spirit, EVISU invited internationally acclaimed photographer Keiichi Nitta to shoot the entire Spring Summer 2013 catalog in his distinctive style in Tokyo. Keiichi Nitta was widely known as Terry Richardson's right hand man before embarking on his own successful solo career back in his native Japan. The raw talent teamed up with EVISU on the global rendition of the SS13 Campaign. Shot on location from a Tokyo roof top overlooking the sprawling city as the stage, Nitta captures EVISU’s unique style through his own unique eye.
EVISU Heritage Collection

As the core of the brand, the Heritage collection has continually used traditional Japanese design as the basis of their design. This season, the EVISU design team used 50’s era as inspiration, merging Hot Rod and Motorcycle culture as key elements into stylish designs. Imagine a traditional denim jacket with an embroidered Hot Rod or Rockabilly design on the back, or infusing the frequently seen 50’s angels wings design into EVISU’s traditional Japanese prints to create their own distinctive, Retro 50’s style.

The heritage collection also includes their famous denim shirts, which keeps up the traditional in using the highest quality denim, as well as creating different variants of the design with multiple cuttings. The seagull print on the back pocket on their denim also received a number of new designs to allow for more mix & match options. The main attraction of the mainline collection is obviously the materials – the usage of the best selvedge denim available and impeccably treated blue dye colouring, this is a must for all fashion and denim lovers.

EVISU Evergreen Collection

The motto of the Evergreen collection is “Before anyone did anything, EVISU did everything”, as it is a representation of the forward thinking and creativeness of the EVISU brand. In literal meaning, evergreen means ‘perennially fresh or interesting’, which can also be said of the EVISU brand since its inception. In the Evergreen collection, EVISU based their designs on basic items which can be worn daily, infused it with iconic elements such as the EVISU Buddha and Seagull design on a collection which is minimal, yet could be matched across with different EVISU collection to define a new casual style.

Other collections

Besides the aforementioned collections, EVISU’s other collection cannot be missed as well. Merging EVISU’s Rockabilly and godhead print design, using high quality denim fabric, merged with trend-setting neon designs to create a collection with unique style.
