After the auspicious first month with Chicken, the Dirty Dozen + 1 project jeans have been passed to Almondcrush in a New York City ceremony. The jeans saw some fierce action and experienced pole dancing, excessive drinking, thrills and spills, and some special tender moments.

Have you ever wondered what a month is like in the life of a denim maniac? Chicken (pictured above) was the first member of the Dirty Dozen + 1 project which sees 13 people consecutively wearing the same pair of jeans everyday for one month each before passing it to the next member. The jeans are already well travelled and have made it to ball games, amusement parks, to the seaside, and central park in a just a few weeks. Denim maniacs know that the only way to wear raw selvedge denim is to wear it often and never wash it so that the denim develops natural wear and incredibly unique features like a patina, whiskers, and honeycombs. When the Dirty Dozen + 1 jeans are finished in late 2008 they would have had 13 continuous months of everyday wear!
After being with Chicken in New York for a month, the jeans were handed to Almondcrush in New Jersey who continues to carry the torch on this denim odyssey. Eventually the DD+1 jeans will make their way around to world to far off locales such as Germany, England, Singapore, and even to the jeans home in Japan.

Evisu understands that good things come to those wear in their denim. Luckily, we’re not the only ones. Spurred by curiosity on what a pair of raw denim jeans would look like after 13 months of continuous use, denim lover Cheep, decided to gather his comrades from Supertalk for a heartfelt “Dirty Dozen + 1″ denim experiment.
You can see some of the members as well as fans here at the Dirty Dozen + 1 launch party hosted by Evisu at our New York showroom in conjunction with top denim shop, Blue in Green, and thankfully sponsored by Japan’s Kirin beer.
Also have a look at some pics of the hand painting of the jeans at Blue In Green, as well as a video of Pesu painting the jeans.
Many thanks to the DD+1 members, Kirin, Blue In Green, and all the denim lovers that attended for a fun night!

Gordon from Blue in Green made a video of the hand painting of the DD+1 Jeans. The Evisu seagull pocket logo is on the painted on the right, and on the left there is the DD+1 patch and “13″ painted in Japanese.
Thanks Gordon!

The Dirty Dozen + 1 jeans is a project conceived by Cheep and the members of the online denim community Supertalk in conjunction with New York’s best denim store Blue in Green. Thirteen people over thirteen months will wear a special single pair of customized Evisu jeans hand painted by the Japanese artist Pesu at Blue In Green New York. The jeans start with Chicken who also designed the patch, and will then slowly travel around the world before ending back in NYC after thirteen months.
