Evisu One Off

The obsession for that “unique article” led to “One-off”, the event organized by Evisu with Vogue Italia and the Child Priority foundation to collect funds for young artists with postential but without the means to develop it. There were seven artists and fourteen designers, a total of 23 exceptional works at the Gio Marconi gallery in one exclusive soiree on the 27th September 2001. Works that were unique but had one thing in common: Evisu denim. Handmade on original 1950’s looms and featuring their famous attribute - colored , heavy dense fabric, double seams, extra-large rivets and the unmistakable seagull logo - the has been re-invented, taken out of their traditional sphere and became part of a new creativity.

The co-ordination and selections made by Rudi Von Wedel and Guilo Cappellini showed off the most prestigious names in the world of design: Jasper Morrison, Marc Newson, Tom Dixon, Piero Lissoni, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, who used denim to cover seats originally designed by Cappellini: and others like Christophe Pillet, Patrick Norguet, -Marie Massuad, Ron Arad, and Guilo Cappellini himself who designed new prototypes ranging from armchairs to parasols.

Pictures of the pieces can be found in the flash gallery.
