For the first time the Japanese denim experience has been brought to Copenhagen, Denmark with a beautiful store designed by Johannes Torpe Studios.
“The materials are to be experienced at the spot, we have kept the classic twist from furniture but in a rare blend of shiny epoxy, high gloss steel, raw concrete, black car paint, stuffed animals, danish classic pictures, japanese items and a lot of crap…”
- Johannes Torpe
The Evisu Copenhagen store is located at Galleri K, Shop 11, Antonigade 2c.

The Evisu Fall 2007 men’s and women’s wear collection will debut for the first time in New York City at Bryant Park’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week . The Collection will include ready-to-wear, couture and denim lines. For the fall, Evisu designers were inspired by twentieth century Japan, and the merging of the East and the West. Materials and motifs include Japanese silks and luxurious loomed cottons in both classical and modern prints tailored in unique modern forms and volumes, and combine with expert Savile Row tailoring.

The obsession for that “unique article” led to “One-off”, the event organized by Evisu with Vogue Italia and the Child Priority foundation to collect funds for young artists with postential but without the means to develop it. There were seven artists and fourteen designers, a total of 23 exceptional works at the Gio Marconi gallery in one exclusive soiree on the 27th September 2001. Works that were unique but had one thing in common: Evisu denim. Handmade on original 1950’s looms and featuring their famous attribute - colored selvedge, heavy dense fabric, double seams, extra-large rivets and the unmistakable seagull logo - the jeans has been re-invented, taken out of their traditional sphere and became part of a new creativity.
The co-ordination and selections made by Rudi Von Wedel and Guilo Cappellini showed off the most prestigious names in the world of design: Jasper Morrison, Marc Newson, Tom Dixon, Piero Lissoni, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, who used denim to cover seats originally designed by Cappellini: and others like Christophe Pillet, Patrick Norguet, Jean-Marie Massuad, Ron Arad, and Guilo Cappellini himself who designed new prototypes ranging from armchairs to parasols.
Pictures of the pieces can be found in the flash gallery.
